Micropropagation: Venus Fly Trap Plants

With this exercise, students learn about basic biotechnology and its effect on farming crops and growing plants. Students performed clean laboratory techniques as they separated young Venus Fly Trap Plants into separate test tubes that would further grow into more plants. Discussed were the advantages and disadvantages of using controlled environments for growing crops and plants for human use.

Many plants can grow in one test tube.

Plants were separated into 3 more test tubes.

We discussed the good and bad points of using biotechnology to grow plants.

New roots or plant shoots will start growing in about 3 weeks.

Clean technique makes sure that your plants won't get contaminated.
